Welcome!

The Sunshine Institute is Findlay, Ohio’s newest counseling agency. Our providers include two clinical counselors, a licensed psychologist, licensed social worker, two occupational therapists, and two therapy dogs-in-training. We offer a sensory-rich, therapeutic environment to promote growth for children, adolescents, and adults.  We also work hard to meet the unique needs of individuals diagnosed with developmental delays and their families. Counseling is available in individual, family, and group settings.

STARS: Secondary Trauma: Awareness, Resilience & Support

A FREE group for all first responders, past and present, beginning this Friday, January 11th from 4:00-5:30pm.
(Please share. You could help save a life.)

All of us at Sunshine Institute are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy that has rocked our community, and Findlay Police Department in particular. The duties of a first responder demand more than most of us will ever know or fully understand. Part of this is due to many of us not being employed in this way and it is also partly because the pain, stressors, and lingering effects are rarely shared.

This. Must. End.

Keeping a brave face and "saving others" from knowing just how hard it can be often has long-lasting, deeply impactful results. Nightmares. Flashbacks. Anger. Isolation. Alcohol abuse. Drug abuse. Partner abuse. Suicidal thoughts. Suicidal actions.

Ashley Jacobus, Licensed Professional Counselor at Sunshine Institute, is beginning a free, ongoing group for those who are or have been affected by secondary trauma. This will be a space for these individuals to gather and discuss the realities of dedicating oneself to the safety of others. It is our hope these brave men and women will attend to end silent suffering.

Please join us this Friday, January 11th at 4:00pm.
There is no need for prior registration; just show up and be welcomed.

Please contact Ashley with any questions by calling or texting 419-619-3742 or emailing ashley@sunshineinstitute.life.

Also support groups like Til Valhalla who honor the soldiers and first responders who commit suicide. This group assists the families. I wear a "22 a day bracelet" to bring awareness. 22 first responders, veterans or active duty military personal take their lives each day

Fantastic! Ive been saying this for years💙🖤

Love this Ashley!

I so hope first responders take advantage of this free service. Thank you for looking out for the ones who watch out for all of us.

This is great Ashley!

This was actually on my to do list for this year. You beat me to it!!

You are amazing Ashley Jacobus❤️
